Crop-Circles On The Carpet

I wore this look to see Side By Side a documentary about celluloid vs. digital films by Keanu Reeves of all people. The look itself was inspired while browsing through a bunch of Tea for Teals makeup looks and swatches.

On the inner corner is Meows Crownbeard, and on the lower lash line is Black Rose Minerals Goose Egg and then Gargle Blaster.

I used Crownbeard as a highlight on my brow bone, the green shade is Meows Spruce with BRM Goose Egg and Gargle Blaster on the lid.

I'm getting excited for Fall and Winter, I love pastels but a more muted palate looks better on my complexion. Plus GOLDS! I love golds and they look fantastic in Fall.

On my cheeks is Aromaleighs Cherry Bomb blush with Meows glow powder in Past on the cheekbones. On my lips is Morgana Cryptorias Willow with Past patted on top.

Infrared Photoshoot

 My favorite shot

Actually shooting in infrared (as opposed to changing it to infrared via Photoshop) can be pretty unpredictable. How dark or light something can look depends less on color, and more on what the object is made of. It tends to smooth out skin tone, but can make you look old because it accentuates wrinkles. It edits out freckles and moles but can bring out the appearance of veins. Most photographers who use infrared choose to shoot landscapes, in that respect Michael is a bit of a rebel.

There are of course some things you can do to get the photo you want. The older the cloth is, the more likely it will shoot better  and more true to color because vintage clothing used more natural fibers where more modern stuff tends to have a blend.

Plastic tends to photograph white or clear, as you can tell from my large white faux lashes. So if you plan on wearing lashes maybe buy one that are made from real hair. Although this is kinda a neat side effect.

Lipstick will not be dark, no matter what. I'm wearing Geek Chics Kaos and it doesn't look as if I'm wearing anything. Though for whatever reason khol eyeliner always shows up black, so use that on your mouth instead.

This, believe it or not, is a black dress, it photographed light blue under infrared except for the black elastic straps, kinda fascinating don't you think? This was my last outfit, the shoes were 4 inch heels and kept sinking into the dirt as I walked around, and dress was absolutely killing me. In fact as soon as I got home I chucked it, most of the pictures wearing it I found really unflattering anyway, plus it has a tendency to get a bit twisted while moving and it's super hard to straighten out again. I really only brought it along cause the photographer asked me to, and I don't have a lot of black in my wardrobe.

I got three panoramics, one for each outfit, but like I said I didn't care for the black dress much. This was my favorite panoramic, I'm particularly fond of poses 2 and 5.

I'm in love with pose 4, I want to have a whole album of me jumping in this dress.

All these photos were taken in Portland Riverview Cemetery, which is huge and old and includes a lot of famous residents from Portland history and some large, amazing tombstones. There are also a lot of bikers who come for the quiet roads. This shot was taken just before a whole bunch of them road past shouting things like, "Looking good," and "Very pretty." It was kinda funny really.

There were a few short jokes about this shot because even standing on a bench I still wasn't tall enough to have the leaves directly behind me. The background photographed pretty though didn't it?

I did not get a color shot of my makeup that day. But I took some photos when I was practicing earlier in the month, I changed the shape a bit for the actual shoot, but these are the colors I used in the shoot with the exception of the blue eyeliner which I took out at the last minute, and I used black eyeliner on my waterline.

I Know What We're Gonna Do Today

Okay I have a secret to admit to you all, I LOVE Phineas and Ferb! I'm pretty sure if it was the only show on TV I could happily watch it for the rest of my life.

So anyway, I'm planning on several makeup looks based on the characters and I'm starting with Phineas because he's my favorite. Not that I dislike any of the characters but Phineas is the dreamer of the two some, the idea man. With his brothers know-how he takes his friends ideas to impossible heights. He knows summer doesn’t last forever and is determined to make the most of it. He also get's the best lines, but you know Ferb doesn't talk much so I guess someone has to ask where Perry went.

I'm thinking hard about what I'm gonna do today. I'm thinking a mask that I can press onto my face and it instantly does my makeup.
.

So this is what I came up with, I went with an asymmetrical eye look, I think I could have gone either way, but I thought if I was gonna be Phineas I needed to think outside the box.

I started by primeing my lids with Aromaleigh Primer and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. Also I'm using left and right to describe how they look to you on the screen, in life they were reversed of course.

I drew a thick line of blue under the lower lash line with Meows Blustery. On the left side I extended the line a bit more.

On the right side I applied a piece of tape to make sure the line was nice and straight, for the triangle shape. In the top corner I used Aromaleighs Spread Your Wings. And on the lids of both eyes I patted on Aromaleigh Perehelion.

Over Perihelion I patted on Black Rose Minerals Mother Sunflower darkening it at the crease of both. On the left side I used Spread Your Wings again but brushed it on blending with the other colors.

I used more Spread Your Wings to make the dots, and Meows Calories for the stripes. Over the other colors Calories looks like it's glowing, sooo cool.

On the inner corner and brow bones I used Meows Telekenesis.

On my face I used a combination of liquid and powder foundation, Aromaleighs Peaches n' Cream finishing powder, and Aromaleigh corset blush. Wallflower from Aromaleigh was used on my lips. Now have some picture spam!

What do you think of my Phineas shirt?

Also PIGTAILS!

So, opinions? Should I have done the eyes symmetrically, worn a different shirt? Is my hair too weird? The answer is yes. Yes it is.

Beware the 456

Have I been wearing Geek Chic a lot? Yes, yes I have. There's just something about wearing geek themes on my eyes that makes me a bit euphoric. Even if I'm not telling people, it's like I've got my own geeky little secret plastered on my eyelids. I was happy to get to use some brazen and Black Rose this day as well.

On my brow bone I've got a light dusting of Black Rose Minerals in Sunset, and On the inner corner BRM Goose Egg. On the lid is Brazens Prowl and then on the outer curve Geek Chic's We Are Coming.

On the lower lash line is BRM Goose Egg and GC We Are Coming.

On my lips I've used Aromaleigh color creme in Wallflower, and Aromaleigh corset blush.

Black Rose Minerals Look

Black Rose makes some lovely colors, they blend very well together, but they never seem to go as opaque as I'd like. I've also found that Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy doesn't work very with these shadows, they became "clumpy" when I tried to use them together.

All colors are BRM over Aromaleigh Lip and Eye Primer. On the inner corner is Goose Egg, and under the lower lash line Mother Sunflower.

On the lid is Gargle Blaster, Venom, and then Minky. Gargle Blaster and Venom are quite attractive together, don't you think?

Oooh shiny!

Review: Black Rose Minerals

On my search through indie mineral makeup companies I stumbled across Black Rose Minerals, they have plenty of yellow/gold shades and I think we all know my heart belongs to pale golds and bright yellows... Eyeshadow wise at least.

My package came with stickers and an handwritten card. I adore it when companies do that.

From left to right:
  • Mother Sunflower: Golden yellow with gold sparkle.
  • Sunset: Sherbert orange/golden shimmer with gold sparkle.
  • Goose Egg: Bright true gold shimmer.
  • Minty: Pastel seafoam with blue/mint sparkle.
  • The Brain: Dark rosy pink with diamond sparkle.
  • Lilac to Me: Perfect lilac shade with pink/blue sparkle.
  • Gargle Blaster: Bright orange gold shimmer.
  • Venom: dark fuschia with pink/purple sparkle.
  • It's Electric: Ocean blue rife with blue sparkle
  • Cactus Flower: Matte dark terracotta.
  • Minky: Rich plumy brown with blue/green sparkle.
  • Bleed Black: Black with diamond sparkle.
These shades are for the most part uncomplicated, but still lovely and true, many including Bleed Black, It's Electric, and The Brain were sheerer then I though they were going to be.

Gargle Blaster is described as more gold on the website but I would defiantly call it more orangy, truth be told I only picked it up because I'm a Hitchiker fan. And I also picked up The Brain for similar geeky reasons, every time I see it this goes through my head.

Minky was a beautiful and unique surprise, but my favorites of this bunch were Minty, Lilac to Me, and Sunset.
