National Lolita Day

So yesterday I posted what I wore on National Lolita Day. Now here’s what I was doing.

Only a fraction of the decorations.

My friend and wifey Heather hosts a really fantastic Christmas party every year. It’s formal attire, she invites all her friends, and allows all her friends to invite their friends, so it makes for a pretty big bash. She lives at home still, but that’s ok because she lives in a mansion, literally! If you lived in a mansion I’m sure you’d try to stay there too.

Heather and some penguin friends.

She and her mom will usually put up all the decorations; they’ll also buy a 7 foot Christmas tree that we did have to forgo this year. Sadly her parents have been traveling through South Africa for the past 8 months and will be returning sometime after Christmas. She wasn’t going to put anything up but I offered to help her…

Probably not the best idea I’ve ever had. The house is huge, even without a tree the amount of boxes filled with nick nacks is staggering. Many boxes were labeled but it didn’t seem to do much good. We worked for 5 hours straight, I spent most of that time at the top of many different sized ladders hanging garland.

I really hate garland.

Despite all the work we put in there’s still much more to do and the party is this Saturday, but at least it’s starting to look like Christmas.

All in all it was a pretty good Lolita Day, I was tired and happy, Heather took me to dinner for the help, and then we watched Mythbusters and took some pictures of my outfit.

What did you do? I hope everyone else’s day was just as good as mine.

  1. I forgot there was a 'National Lolita Day' and I didn't see any of my friends talking about it online or anything... but it doesn't matter because I was working for 12 hours and 45 minutes that day at WDW... gotta love it... You look cute in your pics!

  2. Thanks so much! I love dressing up for occasions, but I suppose you can really dress up anytime as long as you don't mind people looking at you weird.
