Daily Wear: ILD

I'm always surprised how often the loli community posts about their bad experiences while dressed in lolita. It barely ever happens to me, in fact I was getting compliments left and right at the Bazzaar. When visiting booths vendors would tell me how cute me or my dress was or they would ask where I got my accessories.

  • Dress, hair bow, and hand muff: Handmade
  • Earrings: Betsey Johnson
  • Shoes and Blouse: Thrifted
  • Leggings: LA Fashion District
  • Socks: Sock Dreams
  • Makeup: Aromaleigh
Makeup in lolita is not particularly exciting for me, unless I'm doing punk I try to keep it clean and simple with a little bit of sparkle.

On the inner corners I used Tarantellegra from the Spells! collection, Celestial from Astronomical, and Hestia from Mythos. Hooray for me for using three from the newer collections! Also I used Petunia to highlight my brow bone.

The effect was very soft and sort of pinky gold. It was nice^^.

One again I hope everyone had a great International Lolita Day.

  1. You look really cute. I'm 5'11", so I could never pull Lolita off. Unless, you know... I was standing REALLY far away from everybody.

  3. Woah, her artwork and her costumes are amazing! I wish I could sew. I hate most off-the-rack stuff and it seems like a really good skill to have.

Maybe I'll learn one day and make a kick-ass costume next time I get to Dragon*Con. It's only been nine years since the first time I went.

  4. Awww I want to go to Dragon-Con one day, I want to compete in the Dawn Contest.

You should defiantly make a costume, it's not for everyone, but I love being in costume.

  5. I remember being a little intimidated- I was only twelve and we went for my brother's tenth birthday. In retrospect we were probably too young to appreciate it, and I really would love to go back. Atlanta's my hometown and any kind of cultural thing that gets that kind of attention and makes people realize that not all Southern towns are full of hicks is alright by me.

Of course, I had no idea what rednecks really were until I moved to Panama City... *shudder*

I think you'd have a great time. And if you have a few days to spend, Atlanta is full of great stuff to do- there's a downtown area that has all sorts of alt-culture shops like Junkman's Daughter and Le Petit Mort, and Kolo Piercing, which supplied me with two of my gauge sets. In Woodstock, there's a really awesome comic book shop I used to go to all the time when I lived in that area, Dr. No's.

I know that sounded like a tourism pitch, but I spent 14 years there, and up until recently, I lived about two hours away in Athens and spent tons of time in that area, I should know!

  6. Cute costume! I like the Pocky bag with the dress, they go well together. The faux fur is super popular over in Japan right now, so nice choice! I'm not that into it and even I already own some...

Good luck with the Christmas costume!
